Cut 2 frog shapes from the sewing pattern below

How to make the felt toy frog – Sewing instructions

All seams are glove stitched on the right side and stitches must be close together, thus sealing the seams to hold the grain filling.

Using two strands of cotton, join the seam from A, right round the frog to B.

Fill the frog with rice or alternative seed filling, allow him to “sit” then carefully stitch the remainder of the seam.

Stitch the eyes into position as in photography.

How to make the felt toy Bunny Rabbit – Sewing instructions

All seams are glove stitched on the right side unless otherwise stated.

Using two strands of grey cotton, join each arm to each body piece from D to E on wrong side. Join body seams from B to D, and E to F. Next join each arm seam from E around paw to G. Stuff arms and body, work a running stitch around the top opening, draw up the thread a little and fasten off. Join bottom seam from F to F.

Join each leg from M around the foot to J. Stitch each white sole to foot matching J and K. Insert cardboard stiffener into each foot and stuff firmly to top of leg. Join top of each leg from F to F, then join top of leg seams to body seams matching F to F.

Join one grey ear, one lining ear and one white ear together, stitching around the edge; make a second ear in the same manner.

Sew in head gusset matching C over the head to H, at the same tine fold ears and stitch into position as marked on pattern. Join seam from H to B and seam under nose from C to A.

Stuff the head quite hard. Secure the head to the body with a stitch or two at centre front and centre back and join, by taking up a stitch in the body then one in the head. Work around, pulling the thread tight and at the same time turning in the raw edge. Stitch around in this manner two or three times to make a strong join.

Sew in the eyes and stitch nose and paws in brown (see General Instructions).

Fasten shirt and waistcoat fronts with small press studs and trim waistcoat with pearl buttons. A small ribbon bow may be tied around the rabbit’s neck under the shirt collar.

Sewing Method – Carrot
Join the two carrot shapes together around the edge, stuff firmly and gather the top. Stitch carrot to Bunny Rabbit’s paw.

Sewing Method – Girl Bunny Rabbit
This can be made from the pattern provided, by joining at shirt bodice a piece of cotton material 8″ x 6″, gathering to make a skirt.

The trousers to be cut from plain cotton and trimmed with lace, become Jane’s pantaloons (!). An apron may also be cut from plain cotton and edged with lace.
